I recently decided to photograph a few new & old pieces of work to update my portfolio. I have been working in the Advertising/Marketing industry for over 17 years now. In that time I have worked with some of the most talented people.
Owners, Art Directors, Copywriters, Photographers, Account Executives, Directors of Film/TV. And not to mention everyone behind the scenes in PR & Accounting and all of the Receptionists that handle it all... I feel very blessed to have met so many wonderful people & more importantly to still be in contact with a lot of them.
Everyone one you meet molds your direction in life & who you are. I have worked in several environments from trendy Ad Agencies overlooking the Harbor to a Trade Show company that started off in a scary part of town. (Once you got used to the prostitutes leaning on your car & adjusting your mirrors to fix their makeup every day, it was actually a really amazing place to work! We built huge trade show displays daily from just about any kind of material to make our client's visions come to life!)
I have worked for large firms, small studios, large and small retailers, a Film & Commercial Editing Studio and even from the comfort of home while raising our children.
As our children are getting older I have started missing the Agency World. Creative Briefs, Client Pitches, & helping companies Brand their Identity. I've also missed working with a talented team in a fast paced atmosphere. I have still had the honor to work with so many amazing clients over the years, but the energy that you feed off of in an agency, is like starting off the day with a fresh piece of fruit and a strong coffee.
When we first moved to the area I missed the art & agency world of Philadelphia & Baltimore. In less than 10 years, things have really started to grow and the art community is amazing! The Downtown Community in general is uplifting with 1st Fridays and the Central Market with their variety of vendors. It's wonderful to have such an eclectic city culture only 15 minutes from home & a farm 5 minutes away, all while living in the heart of a fantastic school district.
Grateful is an understatement... I look forward to the next 20+ years and continuing to grow in the community, no matter what direction the wind takes us.
